Fatwa Condeming Terrorist Acts as UnIslamic

Imam

A prominent Islamic scholar issued a fatwa (religious ruling) against terrorism and suicide bombings at a speech in London Tuesday. Muhammad Tahir ul-Qadri produced a 600 page book condeming all the acts of terrorism. He isn't the first Imam to issue such a fatwa in the last couple of years.

He has issued the harshest fatwa ever to be written to this day. Qadri stated, "Whatever these terrorists are doing, it's not martyrdom," The influential Islamic scholar was compelled to issue this fatwa as the radicalization of young British Muslims increases evidently. His intentions were to counter the extremists with a written rulling to "de-radicalize" the Muslim youth. He discovered that most of the extermists studied in British universities and where from Pakistani descent. He felt obligated to stop them because he himself is from Pakistan.

Muhammad Tahir went as far as condemning suicide bombers as destined for hell, a counter to the extremist promise of eternal paradise after death. "Terrorism is terrorism," ul-Qadri said at a news conference hosted by the foundation. "Violence is violence. It has no place in Islamic teaching, and no justification can be provided to it ..."

Qadri is the founder of the Minhaj-ul-Quran, an organization with hundreds of thousands of followers in South Asia and the United Kingdom. With this being said, he will indeed have many followers and people who will support his fatwa. He criticized Muslims who, in justifying terrorism, say it furthers the goal of correcting wrongs done to Muslims.
